  1. Chisholm Netball Region selections are open to any interested athlete who is a member of an Association in the Chisholm Netball Region and has met the requirements for that Association to play for Chisholm.
    • The player must be a permanent player of a team in a domestic or representative competition of a Chisholm Member Association.
    • The Netball Victoria qualification requirements of 6 games played for an association in our region must also be met before the day of the Chisholm trials.
  2. In addition to the above requirement athletes must meet Netball Victoria’s own guidelines which are available from their website https://vic.netball.com.au/state-titles
  3. Age Requirements:
    • Participant age is determined as at 31st December each year
    • 15/U team athletes must be 12-15 years old as of the 31st of December of the competition year.
    • 17/U team athletes must be 14-17 years old as of the 31st of December of the competition year.
    • Open team athletes must be a minimum of 15 years old as of the 31st of December of the competition year.
    • All Abilities’ athletes must be a minimum of 10 years old as of the 31st of December of the competition year.
  4. The selection panel for each team will consist of the Team Coach plus other team coaches and, if available, an independent selector.
  5. Selection Criteria
    • The Selectors may consider the following selection criteria in the selection process:
      • the athlete’s current level of skill and physical fitness
      • past performances over such period as determined relevant or appropriate by the Selectors
      • any current or potential injury or condition which will impair, inhibit or prevent the athlete’s performance to the requisite level;
      • the potential of the athlete to successfully achieve the objectives of this Policy
      • any other factor considered by the Selectors relevant in the circumstances.
    • In considering the Criteria, the Selectors may in their discretion give weight to extenuating circumstances.
  6. Selection Decisions
    • Selection decisions should be made by group consensus.
    • If there is no majority, the Chisholm STO will be asked to facilitate the decision.
  7. Team Entry
    • Teams will not be selected without a trial being run
    • A team will only be entered if there are a minimum of 14 athletes participating in a trial
    • All trials will be funded by participating athletes
  8. Attendance Requirement
    • Players are required to attend the selection trial to have the best chance to be considered for selection.
    • Players that are unable to attend must provide notification in writing to the Chisholm Committee prior to the selection date to be considered for selection.
    • The Chisholm Committee may provide an exemption at their discretion based on individual circumstances.
  9. Team/Squad Size
    • A team of twelve (12) plus a minimum of three (3) training partners shall be selected for the 15/U and 17/U female divisions.
    • A team of between ten (10) to twelve (12) plus a minimum of three (3) training partners shall be selected for the 17/U male and Open divisions.
    • A team of between ten (10) to twelve (12) shall be selected for the All Abilities division.
  10. Training partners will train alongside the team and may be elevated into the team in the event of injury or withdrawal of a selected player.
  11. Notification to Athletes
    • As soon as reasonably possible following completion of the final selection, the Chisholm Committee will notify in writing all trialists of the selection decisions.
    • Subject to this Policy, the decision of the Selectors shall be final.
  12. Requests for Feedback
    • Feedback will not be provided post trials.
  13. Removal from Team
    • Once the teams have been selected, an athlete may be removed from or replaced in a team by the Chisholm Committee in consultation with the team coaches as the circumstances may require.
    • This may include (but is not limited to) situations such as non-attendance, injury or where the athlete has failed to sustain her performance and attitude to a satisfactory level having been given the opportunity to attain those performance levels within a reasonable time.
